Prop News : The PropPeople.com Newsletter Vol 1, Issue 4 3/12/2000
<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>
Hello all! Welcome to another issue of Prop News. It's been a long
week for me here (doesn't it seem like it's always tech week?),
but
I've still had time to correspond with many of you this week. It's
always good to hear from people, and it's also good to see more
and
more people using the discussion board. I see more posts on it every
day. Let's keep it up!

In this issue:
1. The Props Listserv is open for business!
2. USITT News
3. Props in the News

>The Props Listserv is open for business!
You demanded it, so here it is! For those who don't know what a
listserv is, here's a short description. It's a subscribable email
list that members post messages to. Your message is forwarded
on to everyone subscribed to the list. You can subscribe in one
of the following ways:
Method 1: The first method is the simplest. Just send a blank email
to
the following address:
props-subscribe@topica.com
When subscribed to the list by this method, you will receive any
message posted to the list as an individual email message.
Method 2: Digests of the messages are also available. By subscribing
by the digest method, you will receive all of the messages that
are
posted in a given day as a single email. To subscribe to the digest,
you need to go directly to the Topica website. Use the form provided
to subscribe to the list, and choose the "Message Digests -
Sent By
Email" option. Here's the address for the Props Listserv page
at Topica:
http://www.topica.com/lists/props/subscribe
Please visit the Props Listserv page at PropPeople.com to learn
about
the guidelines for the list.

The more people who subscribe, the more effective the list will
be.
This is a great opportunity for experienced props people to share
their
knowledge with younger people. I hope the list becomes very useful
for all of us.

>USITT News
I'm excited to announce that I'll be part of a panel of props people
at
this year's USITT convention in Denver. I'm really excited to have
the
opportunity to present the PropPeople.com in a formal setting. I'm
also going to sound people out on creating a props commission in
USITT. When I get back I'll give a report here in the newsletter.
If
anyone else is going to attend, please let me know!

>Props in the News
Backstage.com featured an article this week on Eileen Albany and
her
company, Eileen's Prop Shop. Eileen is a props master in California
who works in theatre as well as film and television. She's also
a very
nice woman who I've corresponded with several times this week! To
see the article about her and her work, go to the following address:

Don't forget to sign up for the listserv!
Until next week!
